Last month´s (February 9) CNN report:
President Donald Trump signed a major budget deal into law early Friday morning, hours after Congress voted to end a brief government shutdown overnight.
The House of Representatives voted 240-186. The GOP-controlled chamber needed help from House Democrats to clear the bill, and 73 Democratic members gave it. Sixty-seven House Republicans voted against the plan.
The colossal bill, which lawmakers have been negotiating for months, is a game-changing piece of legislation, clearing the decks for Congress in dealing with major spending issues as well as doling out disaster relief money and hiking the debt ceiling which was set to be reached next month.
Around this time every year, it´s the same old story.
Act 1. Congress must pass a funding bill in order to stave off a federal government shutdown.
Disaster! Catastrophe!! Anarchy in the streets!!
Act 2: Guys in suits and power-red ties bray and crow on the Capitol steps about how they put together – selflessly working ALL NIGHT for god and for you, the people -- a spending bill, thereby saving the republic.
Act 3: the president signs the bill, thereby saving the republic.
This ridiculous scam is easily stopped.
11,539 amendments have been proposed to the Constitution. Only 27 have succeeded.
PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 28:
In the event no funding bill is passed by midnight, March 31, barring a declaration of war or other national emergency, existing funding levels will be carried forth for the next fiscal year.
No politician wants what Amendment 28 decrees. For that reason, if the Amendment is enacted you will see funding bills passed each and every year without all the self-serving muss and fuss, the phony posturing.
